In 1927, listed by Sunday Call as “the only woman director of a scientific station in the United States”. She was the director of the Wyanokie Zoological Station in Haskell. As of 1930, she was still listed as “of Newark” but was working at the New York Aquarium. She traveled internationally with her scientific work throughout her life.
Ruth lived at 137 Roseville Ave and had two children. She met her husband Charles Breder, when he was a senior at Central High; they married in 1918. Both her children were born in Newark in 1920 and 1922. By sometime in 1930 the family moved to New York and then East Orange by 1940. While in New York she was director of the New York Zoological Society. In the 1930s she wrote some columns about marine life for the Newark News.
In 1941, the newspaper reported she was managing factory personnel at Titeflex Metal Hose Company in Newark.
In 1944 she married Reginald Porter and died in Miami.
