Theresa Guthrie lived in Newark from at least 1910. She was the founder of the Chronically Ill Service of Essex County. She was also a board member of the Essex County Tuberculosis League and county representative on the board of the NJ Tuberculosis Association.
Theresa served at base hospitals in France during WWI. She was the only women on a tablet at B’Nai Jeshurun dedicated to soldiers and sailors.
Theresa was director of the National Organization of Public Health Nursing in New York during the 1920s. She lectured on nursing at Newark University. She graduated Johns Hopkins Nursing School in 1914.
She lived at 236 Broad Street and 126 Clinton Ave.
