1964 Weequahic graduate. Editor of the Black Organization for Students newsletter at Rutgers and first African American female editor of Rutgers Observer. Worked as a journalist for Information published by the City of Newark, as well as in multiple other journalism positions and freelance for publications like Metro-Newark and Essence. In 2003, she published Encyclopedia of the Harlem Renaissance. She cofounded the Newark Writers Collective and founded the Frances Harper Literary Society and WEB Dubois Reading Circle (latter two met at Newark Library). She worked as an instructor at Rutgers and managed the James Brown African American Room at the Newark Library, also curating exhibits and programs. President of the Chadwick Avenue Block Association.
