Mae Muldrow owned LaVogue Beauty Salon (Beauty and Wig Center) for 37 years.

Mae was one of the founders of the Modern Beauticians Association, a national organization, and former president of Modern Beautician Investment Corp. She was active with the Cordelia Greene Johnson Foundation (scholarships for beauticians) and general chairman of the Beauty Culturist League.

Mae graduated from the Myriam Caragu Beauty School in Paris, as well as Solo Beauty School in Princeton.

Mae also was a volunteer with United Community Corp. She was born in North Carolina (maiden name Harris) and moved to Newark c. 1937. In 1967, she was awarded Woman of the Year by Theta Nu Sigma, Beta Chapter.
