Executive director of the Children’s Aid Society on Springfield Ave in Newark, where she worked for 35 years.
The Children’s Aid Society served “as a protective agency for children”, provided “guidance and treatment for behavioral problems” and placed “children in boarding and adoptive homes.”
Graduated Barnard College and started as the Executive secretary of the Children’s Aid Society in 1917, after getting into social work “by accident” after social workers were needed on an emergency basis during a 1915 fire in the Oranges.
Lived her whole life on Lincoln Street in East Orange.
