1951-

Janyce Jackson Jones was co-Pastor of Unity Fellowship Church located in Newark, NJ. Prior to UFC, she served as Pastor of Liberation in Truth Unity Fellowship Church for which she was a founding member in 1995. Janyce was executive Director of the Liberation in Truth Social Justice Center, which provided support, groups, education and services in connection with the church.

Janyce was vice Chair of the LGBTQ Advisory Commission of the City of Newark. She helped organize Newark’s LGBTQ Community Center and served as Executive Director of the Center for 3 years.

Janyce also served on the boards of the GRIOT Circle in Brooklyn, NY, the Newark School of Theology, the Pride Council of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and the LGBTQ Sub-committee of the Newark Youth Policy Board. She was also a member of the Mayor’s Clergy Affairs Board.

Janyce served in Newark for 21 years before retirement. She was the recipient of the 2006 Newark Pride Award, the 2011 Star of Essex County award from the Essex County Executive, and 2012 Community appreciation award.
