1953-

Grizel Ubarry served as director of ASPIRA in Newark from 1976 to 1982, starting when she was just 24. She served as director of the Division of Community Development for Essex County from 1983-1985. She then became a consultant, as president of G. Ubarry Inc. As a consultant, she has worked with non-profit organizations, businesses and community development corporations to develop and manage successful community development initiatives.

Grizel has also served on countless boards including the Victoria Foundation, the Fund for NJ, the Don Pedro Development Corporation, and SOPAC. She served as a Trustee for the Newark Museum for 28 years, receiving a Distinguished Service Award from Newark Museum in 2010.

Grizel was born in Philadelphia and attended Rutgers Livingston College.
