First black welfare director in New Jersey. Worked as a social worker for the city starting in 1931, and became director of welfare from 1964-1969. After her retirement served as director of the Northeast Region for the US Dept of Housing.
1965 Rutgers Newark Graduate. On the board of directors of the Fuld Neigborhood House, member of the Newark Urban League, North Jersey Unit of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Womens Clubs and the League of Women Voters.
Lived in Newark from at least childhood (on 1920 census). Her older brother graduated Central High in 1927 and she is listed in two 1928 yearbooks though not as a graduate, suggesting she may have graduated Nov 1928 (yearbook is missing).
