Newark space planner, interior designer, teacher and potter.
Graduate of Weequahic High School and Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art. Lived on Renner Ave during highschool. She tudied ceramics at the Newark Museum, among other places, and studied at Edison State College, Pratt Institute and Parsons with concentrations in architecture, planning, and design.
Evelyn worked as a space planner and interior designer for the City of Newark from 1975-1981, where she helped renovate Symphony Hall and City Hall. She also volunteered with the Cultural Affairs Committee of the Lincoln Park Association of Newark where she was an integral organizer of the annual JulyFest.
Evelyn taught ceramics courses at the Newark Museum and Rutgers Newark.
Outside of Newark, she was a major force in establishing the Riker Hill Art Park and was first president of the Folk Music Society of Northern New Jersey, as well as a lead vocalist for a band! Her artwork was exhibited all over NJ including at the Newark Museum. She served on the Board of Directors of the Old Church Cultural Center and School of Art in Demarest and was a founding member of Peters Valley Craft Village in Sussex County and The Clayworkers Studio of Edison.
