In 1965, she hosted a cocktail party for the South Ward Independent Voters League which was raided by police and all participants were arrested including famed Newarkers Stanley Winters and Derek Winans. She claimed was political harassment and it was covered by the Newark News.
In 1966 the Greenbergs held a fundraising party attended by Stokely Carmichael.
Estelle was on the 1967 Committee of Concern after the Newark Rebellion. The Newark News noted that in 1967 Greenberg was a freeholder challenger.
In March 1969, Estelle helped organize the convention of the New Democratic Coalition of Essex County.
In May 1969 Estelle was appointed a member of the Greater Newark Research and Planning Institute, a nonprofit “think tank” to address problems in Newark.
From 1969-1970 she worked with Hilda Hildalgo to draft George C Richardson for Mayor, however, Richardson ended up endorsing Ken Gibson.
