1870-1924
Emily B Thomas was an assistant teacher to James Baxter at the Colored School from at least 1888. She pent most of her teaching career at Commerce Street School and was a member of the Phyllis Wheatly Society.
Emily was appointed a delegate to the National Congress of Colored Educators, by the Governor, in 1912.
In 1900, Emily lived with the father of Rose S. Ray Moryck, Adam Ray. In 1910, she lived on High Street with famous Newark Black doctor William H Washington. In 1915, she lived on Kearny St with Brenda Estelle Ray Moryck and Rose S. Ray Moryck. Upon her death, she was living in Brooklyn.
