Elma Rehmann was the sister of Antoinette Perrett.

Elsa was a famed landscape architect, who has a large biography linked below from the Cultural Landscape Foundation. The Sunday Call called her “one of the most successful women in her profession.”

Elsa worked planning gardens saying, “The results of my work are most satisfying but I have to be patient to enjoy them at their fullest.”

Her writings appeared in many magazines and she authored or co-authored three books including “Garden Making” with her sister, and “American Plants for American Gardens” with a Vassar professor.

Elsa was a visiting lecturer at Vassar for several years; in later years, she wrote nature poetry.

Elsa was a 1908 Barnard Graduate and 1904 Newark High graduate. She lived at 492 Mt. Prospect Ave, until she moved away with her sister and brother-in-law in 1928.
