Elizabeth Miele was an early law school graduate, journalist and playwright.
Elizabeth Miele was a newspaper reporter for the Newark Ledger, publisher of The Civic Pilot. She organized the Club Service Publishing Company, an advertising syndicate for women’s club publications.
Elizabeth was a 1921 graduate of New Jersey Law School, an early woman lawyer. She practiced law at the Essex Building with Irene R. O’Crowley.
Later, Elizabeth became a playwright and production manager, writing among other plays “City Haul” in 1930. She wrote the hit song “Heaven Help Me I’m In Love” in 1951.
Elizabeth went to Barringer and Central High graduating Central in 1918.
At one point Elizabeth was put forward as a Democratic assembly candidate but stated that she was removed after “advocating for three things…no night work for women, a minimum wage and the 8 hour day.”
