Helen Zimmer was corporate secretary (secretary/treasurer) of Fidelity Union Bank from 1964-1975 and previously assistant secretary 1961-1964 and with Fidelity from 1956.
Helen was the first woman officer of the bank in Newark and the first woman in Newark to be elected corporate secretary. She said, “I’m waiting for company. There’s plenty of opportunity!” Previously she worked for Riker, Danzig, Scherer and Brown for about 20 years.
Helen was a lifelong Newark resident. The daughter of Irish immigrants, she attended East Side and Coleman Business College. Her family lived on East Kinney St. She lived at 140 Roseville Ave. in 1964.
Helen was a member of the National Association Bank Women and the Soroptimist Club and was listed on the Who’s Who of American Women.
