1871-1963

First woman to graduate the New Jersey Law School, along with Lulu Kinsgsland Garrabrant (who was never admitted to the bar). New Jersey Law School became Rutgers Law School, in Newark in 1910 and was admitted to the bar as an attorney.

Born in Newark, to William Wilson and Maria Mayo. Lived at 211 Elm Street with her mother and grandfather by 1880, her father had died. By 1900 lived with relatives of her mother at 262 Garside St.

She was admitted to the bar as a counselor June 1913 (possibly 3rd woman admitted). Laura Wilson is listed as secretary of the Legal Aid Society in the 1914 city directory. By 1918, she was Consulting Attorney of the NJ State Federation of Women’s Clubs.

By 1918 and through 1930 she lived in East Orange and worked as a private practice lawyer, for at least some time at 763 Broad St (at least through 1927). She died in Caldwell.
