1882-1956
Eleanor E Hamilton was superintendent and director of Presbyterian Hospital in Newark from at least 1927-1947. She was named Outstanding Woman of Year in Essex County in 1947. She was president of the NJ Hospital Association in 1937.
Eleanor was as previously director of the Illinois Training School for Nurses and Superintendent of Miami Valley Hospital. She’d had a fellowship from American College of Hospital Administrators. She was killed in a car accident in 1956, along with her husband of 3 years Donald Kingsley.
Eleanor was born in Sussex and graduated from Blair Academy. During WWII she was chairman of the nursing council of the Newark Defense Council. She was also one of the founders of the Quota Club for professional women and a member of the DAR of Morristown.
